Raw Vulnerability

May 13, 2026

It’s incredibly brave when someone bares their soul in hopes to find peace while helping others find a path to community and comfort.

Philippa paints her emotions across the pages in House of Cards. There’s pain, heartbreak but also love and resiliency. It’s a testament to the woman she has become, despite all the odds.

Even though I already knew so much of this story, there were parts that hurt my heart. I picked it up and didn’t put it down until I finished. This incredible woman is an inspiration.

An excellent heart wrenching read

The House of Cards Has Folded

April 4, 2026

This book gripped me from the start, I could feel the author’s emotions through her words. Many times, I found myself getting angry knowing that someone could have intervened after so many visits to the hospital. That being said, the 70’s/80’s/90’s were such a different time and mental health wasn’t a topic that people talked about, let alone, understood in depth.

Phillippa – I’m so proud of you for overcoming these obstacles in your childhood, despite of your Mother. It’s amazing to watch you thrive đź©·

A Challenge of Emotions!

March 21, 2026

Reading this was a difficult journey. I’ve known Pippa since kindergarten, and it’s hard to wrap my head around the torment that the happy little girl I knew was living through. Anger, sadness, shock, were front and centre while reading her story. But what I felt most happiness she was healing and I was proud of her for taking this head on. It’s an important read for those that need healing and a direction to start.

Been a long time since I’ve read a book . A story from the heart, and relatable from many different experiences.Easy to read very engaging. Pippa reminds us that our experience however tough don’t define how our stories have to end.

My first cover-to-cover read in a long time

“I didn’t just miss my mother; I missed the mother I needed—the one I never had.”

While Phillippa guides readers through her trajectory of childhood trauma and abuse at the hands of her mother, this memoir most importantly depicts Phillippa’s personal journey of becoming. Becoming a strong, compassionate woman capable of taking on life’s biggest challenges; Becoming a friend, wife, and colleague cherished by all who know her; and becoming a mother wholeheartedly committed to breaking cycles of abuse so the narratives of her proceeding lineage can read with more love, hope, and ease than that of her own.

House of Cards: Surviving Munchausen by Proxy and a Mother’s Web of Lies brought tears within the first few pages, and left me reflecting on the importance of being the mother one didn’t get to have.

Raw courage

March 11, 2026

I just finished Pippa’s book. As I read, I shook my head more and more. My heart sank lower and lower. And my anger and empathy both grew simultaneously. How could a mother do this to her child? How could that child blossom into the loving human being she is today? What Pippa endured disgusts me. As a mother, a woman responsible for smothering my own children in love, comfort and support, I cannot fathom the intentional, manipulative and suffocating web of sneaky abuse by Pippa’s mother.

Pippa’s journey is, I’m sure, just one of so many! You’re free Pippa! You’re free!

Heartbreaking - so proud of you.

I have known Pippa since the day she was born. Although she moved when she was one year old I still saw her on occasions when she visited her Dad. I knew her mother was a huge issue in her life but did not realize how far it all went. I started her book and didn’t put it down till I finished it. It is absolutely amazing that the medical profession did not pick up on what was happening. Such a well written book and what a strong brave woman. Congratulations Pip – you are a winner in every way.

Sad story. Well written. Started reading and didn’t put it down till I finished. Unbelievable that the abuse was never picked up by the medical profession. Nothing but admiration for Pippa
